One song, one story -1

I’m trying to remember but it’s not easy, it was a long time ago. There was on the wall a portrait of the queen smoking a joint and on the sink a worn out teapot.
Despite the winter and despite the wide open windows, the Scouser was cooking topless.
We were talking about an upcoming party or perhaps, why not, about something radically different. Then it was silence, as it sometimes happens between two friends.
It is precisely during this silence that I heard Unfinished Sympathy for the first time.
We ate our lunch and we went back to work but I know that a little part of me stayed in that apartment. It’s not often that you can pinpoint exactly a moment when your life took a sudden turn. I like to think at this moment as one of them.
Incidentally, a few days later the Scouser called me Major for the first time.

Years later I got to talk to Daddy G and I almost told him that very story. Thank God I am too shy and he was way too stoned.

I love it when you hear a snippet of a song and it takes you back to another plance. I get the same thing (bizarrely) with Message in a Bottle by that great artiste, Christina Aguilera.

it's a song for the halcyon days, for me and my brother anyway.
