I try to stay away from it. I try not to notice it on the bedside table (which in my appartment happens to be the table). I hid it underneath a pile of books. I have other novels to finish first. Papers to mark. A thesis to write. But i can feel its presence anyway.
If i start reading it, i’m done.
Nothing else will matter.
I’ve bought a Connelly novel again and i shouldn’t have.

I used to read a lot of crime fiction, and always felt a bit oikish as it's looked down on by the literary establishment. Now I watch crime TV instead, equally oikishly. I love Rebus in particular. But I'm not completely past redemption - I'm also reading the Booker prizewinner The Gathering.
Just bought The gathering this afternoon actually. I don't read a lot of crime fiction either. Altough i really enjoy James Elroy and James Crumley. Ever tried them ?
Damn Connelly making my lunch break run over today... "I can squeeze in another chapter".
Skipped over here from Nick.
Oh Michael Connolly, I absolutely adore him and Hioronymus Bosch (sp??) Unputdownable, I think I've read them all. Concrete Blonde, etc. etc.
What the heck, drag it out, read it everywhere. Unashamedly.
